Keep in mind this is only for the state of Utah, each state has different laws for drivers licenses. I hope this will help someone that may be having the same problem that we had. To prove you have legal/lawful status you must have: Unexpired Employment Authorization Document ( EAD) issued by DHS, Form I-766, or Form I-688B verified by the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements system (SAVE) AND Pending application for adjustment of status to legal permanent resident or conditional resident ( NOA 1 for I-485). Basically, his drivers license will only be good as long as his EAD. My husband was applying for a Limited-Term Drivers License. The Utah DL document requirements are here. We currently have a pending I-485, Adjustment of Status, but not yet approved. There is some additional information they have to verify through DHS, something to do with his EAD, I don't think everyone will have this same problem. When we went to the Fairpark office, with all of the same forms, they accepted what we had and are getting his license sent out. We went to the Draper office 3 times, each time we were told we didn't have the correct documents. They know the laws and they know what documents are acceptable. We suggest going to the Fairpark Drivers License Office: 1095 Motor Ave. My husband has been given the run-around trying to get a drivers license in Utah.
